Any resident of the Camargo Township in Douglas County, Illinois can register for a card free of charge at the Camargo Township District Library. Out-of-District residents will be charged $50 for a card. You can only register in person at the Camargo Township District Library and identification is required.
ID required is either a valid driver’s license or DMV ID with your current address, or, if you don’t have a valid driver’s license or DMV ID, two pieces of identification, one that establishes your identity (preferably a government-issued identification) and something that also establishes your current address.
You may have your library card to check out materials. We can provide look-up without the library card.
The Camargo Township District Library conforms to the Illinois law regarding the confidentiality of library patron records. This means that without written permission from the cardholder library staff cannot share any information about the record with any other person, even a parent or spouse. Individuals presenting valid borrower’s cards issued by the Camargo Township District Library are eligible to borrow materials from the Camargo Township District Library when the following conditions are met:
The library staff may not waive these regulations without the specific permission of the librarian, however, the patron may request and receive a 24-hour hold on the item(s) he or she wishes to check out to allow the patron to correct the situation which has resulted in loss of eligibility to borrow.
Individuals presenting a valid card from another public library in the Illinois Heartland Library System may borrow materials from the Camargo Township District Library. The card must have the name of the individual presenting it, and an expiration date in the future. The card must be either a resident borrower’s card or a system borrower’s card to be valid for reciprocal borrowing.
The Camargo Township District Library circulates materials in a variety of formats including books, magazines, books on cassette, and videos. The following terms of loan are applicable as indicated:

Reference materials (encyclopedias) are for library use only and do not circulate. Pages may be photocopied at no charge.
All items borrowed from the library may be renewed up to two times, except new movies and new books. You can renew your items through our online catalog or by contacting the library through phone. New items may only be checked out once so that they circulate among as many people as possible.
If your item belongs to Camargo Township District Library or another library in the Illinois Heartland Library System, you may renew it online through the SHARE catalog. Log in with your barcode (without any spaces between the numbers) and PIN (the last four digits of your home phone), which will open your account to everything you have checked out and on hold. Check the box next to the item and click renew. The site will confirm your renewal and give you the new due date.
New items or items on reserve may not be renewed, so that others have a chance to use them in a timely fashion.
Items usually arrive in 7-10 business days if the item is available.
The Camargo Township District Library has established, in addition to the schedule for lost or damaged items, the following schedule of fines for overdue materials as well as fees for other services provided by the Camargo Township District Library. Patrons with responsibility for material in any format which is more than 90 days overdue are also responsible for any and all collection and/or court costs incurred by the library in its efforts to secure the return of the material.
